Singer from New York/USA, born 1993
In a few short years, Lauren 'KITTENS' Abedini has gone from djing in her bedroom, to touring with Kid Cudi, performing with Chief Keef, as well as djing for Usher, who is her current mentor. Rising through the ranks of an industry dominated by men, she's learned how to play to trendy Hollywood crowds and underground music aficionados by balancing classic and current hip hop, trap, house, jersey club, future bass, and genreless dance music with some mainstream sounds sprinkled on top. Her selections have garnered support from artists like Usher, A-trak, Madlib, Kid Cudi, Ta-ku, and the Gaslampkiller (who was one of the first to teach KITTENS how to DJ).
Her foundation was built growing up as a classically trained dancer, listening to soul/funk/jazz cuts from her Mothers impeccable record collection, digging for any proper hip hop she could get her hands on, and during her teen years attending Low End Theory. All of these things combined provided her with a well rounded taste and understanding of good music.
Eritrean by way of San Diego beat lover Eden Hagos brings visibility to those future sounds that you can't quite put your genre finger on. Deep rooted in underground hip hop, sample-based, percussion-heavy tunes and future bass, Eden's ear for unique sounds has kept her digging since her uncle gave her her first Fugees album at age 16.
Since 2011, Eden has dropped 3 mixtapes - the third installation, Currently, caught the attention of Okayfuture deeming the young beatstress "a prophet of future sounds". The beat scene and local producers started listening and partnerships with artists, labels, and connectors in the community became plentiful.
Miss Hagos' influences heavily come from those nearby – those who've given the San Diego and Los Angeles beat scenes a name – artists like AbJo, Mike Gao, eLan, Gonjasufi, Gaslamp Killer and the Soulection movement.
Eden is poised to bring light to the beat makers in this movement while uncovering and educating folks along the way of all of the genres that exist within these future sounds.
Widely known across the US for her bold DJ sets, Suga Shay is a fashion industry regular, having played for brands such as Skingraft, Athleta (NYFW), Diesel, & Top Shop. With a mix of hip hop, ballroom, tech house and club music, her versatile underground style has been showcased at many of Los Angeles’ favorite parties. As comfortable on large stages as she is in basement after-parties, she’s been seen DJing alongside chart-topping mainstays such as Miguel and Solange Knowles, as well as late night television with Janelle Monae on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
