Jesse Jo Stark
Few young artists have as much inherited bonds to the music and fashion world as Jesse Jo Stark. With her parents, Laurie Lynn and Richard Stark, owners of Chrome Hearts, Jesse Jo grew up in an environment that fostered creative expression. Now twenty-four years old, Jesse Jo is creating her own original place in design and music.
First spotted in the ever-opinionated realm of cyberspace, Jesse Jo was the constant subject of curiosity – named a muse, a musician, an artist, a designer – she became recognized for her playful style and imaginative coolness and the tribes of fashion and culture followers were captivated. It was not long before images of her at thirteen and sixteen shot for Elle Magazine by famed fashion photographer, Gilles Bensimon were uncovered and the fascination continued.
For Jesse Jo, there was always a convergence of music and fashion in her life so it was only natural for her to find music as the outlet for expressing herself. Under the guidance and collaboration of such notable musicians as Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols and Duff McKagen of Guns N’ Roses, Jesse Jo began writing and recording. Not surprisingly, her range of musical influences extending from country to punk & rock, all share the one quality most evident in her own music – honesty and originality.
All the while, Jesse Jo was quietly but boldly defining her mark on fashion. In early 2010, one of her very first ventures, a collection named Pete Punk for Chrome Hearts inspired by references of the punk era, found immediate distinction both editorially and commercially. Following on the success of this project, Jesse Jo was approached to lend her style to the skate company, Vans. For this joint project launched in Spring 2011 and revisited again in Fall 2011, Vans x Jesse Jo, she brought her own personal vision to the laidback skater vibe of the brand.
Jesse Jo Stark, who continues to appear on the pages of the most influential magazines globally, is currently in the studio working on her first record. Her second collection of Pete Punk debuted during Fall 2011 Fashion Week in Paris. She joins her mother, Laurie Lynn Stark, as the eye behind the lens for the Chrome Hearts global advertising campaigns as well as Creative Director of the annual Chrome Hearts Magazine.
