Madi Sipes & the Painted Blue
Madi Sipes and the Painted Blue is a band from San Francisco, fronted by singer and electric guitarist, Madi Sipes. With her captivating voice and mature songwriting, Madi started gaining fans at a young age in her hometown of Placerville, California. While performing one of her songs at a summer camp talent show, Madi caught the attention of counselor and Los Angeles-based songwriter Andrew Heringer. The two began long-distance collaboration over the next few years, while Andrew was performing and touring in the band Milo Greene.
In the spring of 2016, Madi recruited longtime friends Nick Cunningham (bass) and Caleb Koehn (drums) to form her band. The band traveled to Los Angeles to finish writing and recording the final few songs for Madi Sipes and the Painted Blue’s forthcoming debut: Privacy. Pulling from a diversity of influences -- including Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Ocean and Fleet Foxes -- Privacy showcases what The Sacramento Bee describes as “feisty and sultry indie soul pop."
If Travis Hayes’ debut album, Young Daze, captured the wistful optimism and possibility of youth, his second, Sleepless, is the sound of finding the strength to stand up after life has slammed you into the concrete one too many times. The album, written after the sudden death of a dear friend, encompasses what it is to be alive: the joy of love, the agony of loss, the terror of embracing hurt, and the ultimate release of healing. Sleepless is the sound of shedding one scarred and fractured skin, in order to crawl into another, stronger one. But for all its sadness, Sleepless is ultimately marked by a deep sense of hope; the will and desire to keep moving forward, even in the shadow of grief. “In the end,” Hayes says, “these were more than just songs. They saved my life.”
DIVIDED HEAVEN is the brainchild of Jeff Berman, a singer/songwriter whose musical path was initially set ablaze in the fertile music scene in Lancaster, Pennsylvania in the mid-90's. Berman started young, always the baby-member in punk and hardcore bands along the East Coast: '77-rockers THE STATIKS, Philadelphia street-punk/Oi band THE BOILS, DC hardcore juggernaut V.P.R., NJ thrashers RITES, Florida hardcore troupe PROTAGONIST. The first spark of DIVIDED HEAVEN came when Berman was living and studying in Berlin, Germany; though it wasn't until 2009, when he settled in Los Angeles, that Berman fully gravitated towards being a singer and evolving as a songwriter and front man. There, he formed DIVIDED HEAVEN: part full-band / part solo-singer/songwriter.
