Cumbiatón Los Angeles
Cumbiatón Los Angeles
Founded by Dj Sizzle Fantastic and Normz la Oaxaqueña, Cumbiatón has rooted itself in the beautiful barrio of Boyle Heights, CA and has branched out to cities like San Fransisco, CA and Seattle, Washington. Cumbiaton’s vision in all 3 cities is to center womxn and queer people of color both on the dance floor and in the Dj booth.
Earth Arrow
Earth Arrow
Earth Arrow is an Afro Indigenous Hip-hop & dance band based in South Central Los Angeles. Early 2017 the band united over a need to revive ancient African and Indigenous rhythms and dance as a release, as therapy. A reflection of the fire that burns in the hearts of all who live in colonized lands across the world , Earth Arrow harnesses the likes of Santana, Jimi Hendrix , The Godfather of Soul , The Roots, and touches on the groups Afro-Latin roots with jams that Celia and The Fania Allstars might approve.
Their politically charged lyrics & memorable melodies will keep Earth Arrow on your mind long after the amps have stopped ringing. Ancient and modern, the guitar licks, piano solos, and percussions are calls to the immigrant ancestors of the band as they channel their visions for what Earth could be. One glance to the dance floor of an Earth Arrow show and you will see people from every background, gender, class, ethnicity. Playing to spread truth, justice, and light over the lands; the 6th sun is here.” Follow the arrow >>>——>
Mariachi Arcoiris
Mariachi Arcoiris
Led by director Carlos Samaniego, Mariachi Arcoiris de Los Angeles performs its repertoire to suit the LGBTQ community while it maintains the highest level of musicality. Mariachi Arcoiris de Los Angeles is proud to have the first transgender female, Natalia Melendez, in the history of mariachi as one of its members. Natalia has been featured in a two-part special for Univision news, which depicts her life and struggles as a transgender woman in the mariachi world. As a result of this two-part special, in its short existence, Mariachi Arcoiris de Los Angeles has been invited to perform for 3 different morning news shows on Univision, which includes the “Lanzate” program. During each one of these presentations, the mariachi was highlighted because of its special nature in representing the LGBTQ community.

Due to the history that Mariachi Arcoiris de Los Angeles is making, a recorded interview from NPR of this ground-breaking ensemble has been archived in the U.S. Library of Congress (check out our "media" page).

Mariachi Arcoiris de Los Angeles has also performed for Los Angeles and Long Beach Pride, Transgender Pride at the LGBT Center in Los Angeles, South Bay Pride, Oceanside Pride, The Abbey, Club Tempo, Hamburger Mary’s, #SchoolsNotPrisons tour for the Califronia Endowmnet, and many other LGBTQ establishments as well as for many same-sex and “traditional” weddings.
