Ray Little has been moved by music all of her life, raised in Tulsa Oklahoma, in a home with a father who played and wrote, she found herself drawn to music as a form of communication and inspiration. Sneaking into live shows as a teenager, she found any way she could to be close to music whether at home or elsewhere. In 2008 she left Tulsa and headed to Los Angeles to professionally pursue music and she hit the ground running, looking for any and every opportunity to sing, write and play. This path would take her on a long and incredible journey to finding her sound, her voice and her musical identity. She established her first collaborative effort in 2010, landing in a Rock band that would take her on a five year journey. This band introduced her to new and important professional experiences, the most important being the opportunity to perform live. Ray had been preforming live her entire life but this was a new level. Putting her in front of large audiences and allowing her to bring what came natural to her. Playing live became her passion as well as her calling card. Her live show immediately generated a passionate following of fans and industry insiders playing alongside of some of LA’s most prestigious bands. Her ability to immediately connect with her audience grew into one of the best live shows in LA. In 2014, she took a leap of conviction and left the band to pursue her vision.
She started working with a wide array of musicians and producers, fine-tuning her sound and, ultimately, her vision for her music, working on songs that truly represent her as an artist and who she is in the world. Ditching the limitations of driving rock, she focused on a different sound that was driven by her passionate and stirring voice laid down on top of spacious production. She partnered with her friends from Semi Precious Weapons to refine new territory in song writing and they found magic in their collaborative efforts. The new sound she focused on was modern, up tempo, melodic and had movement while allowing her wide ranging voice to be the dominating presence. Compared to Sia, Banks, and Phantogram, Little still leads with her own style, uncompromising, strong and uplifting. Her life is literally lived in song, every experience being one that she can translate into a mood, melody and a captivating message for the world to hear. Her evolving sound and appetite for the next thing is and will probably always been insatiable.
