Lucy Arnell
Lucy Arnell
LUCY ARNELL (b. August 22, 1989) is an American indie psychedelic folk-rock singer, songwriter and guitarist from New York City. 'Lucy Arnell' is the name she and her band release and perform music under. Her music has been compared to that of The Breeders, Jefferson Airplane and The Grateful Dead, and Live For Live Music calls her songwriting and production unique and experimental, yet humble and familiar. Her style is defined by her focus on the guitar itself, heavily influenced by people like Jimi Hendrix and Jerry Garcia.

After a brush with death (and an eighteen pound tumor) in 2014, Lucy taught herself guitar and basic music theory, and partnered with producer and multi instrumentalist Jason Abraham Roberts (Norah Jones) to create her first album, "The Whole Sky Turned Red With The Rainbow" the following year. The album was recorded at Elliott Smith's New Monkey Studio, largely using his personal equipment to record and mix the songs. Jon Fishman (Phish) was brought in to play drums on the ultimate track "Fatal Folk." "The Whole Sky Turned Red With The Rainbow" was quietly and independently released on a limited 500ct vinyl run and all digital stores, receiving positive reviews from publications like JamBase and Live For Live Music.

After a few years cutting her teeth in the San Francisco music scene playing alongside members of ALO, Tea Leaf Green, Nicki Bluhm and The Gramblers and Phil Lesh and Friends, she moved to Los Angeles to record a follow up to her first album. The LP, again produced by Roberts, includes playing from Gus Seyffert (Dr. Dog, Roger Waters, Bedouine). No release date has been set and Lucy considers this to be her true debut.
