Transviolet is an LA-based quartet made up of vocalist/lyricist Sarah McTaggart, multi-instrumentalist/producer Michael Panek, drummer/producer Jonathan Garcia, and guitarist/keyboardist Judah McCarthy. The band’s first song, “Girls Your Age” popped online in the summer of 2015 announcing Transviolet’s arrival. “Girls Your Age” gained instant online traction with Sarah’s voice at once recalling the Lana, Lorde, Karen O and Imogen Heap: sultry, measured,
assured. Katy Perry praised the lyrics, Harry Styles tweeted his support, Ellie Goulding selected it for a spin on Beats1 and Twin Shadow delivered an exclusive remix. Transviolet has appeared on The Late Late Show with James Corden (twice) and The Today Show. They have toured nationally with Mikky Ekko and LANY, and toured the UK with Twenty One Pilots. They've played the festival circuit including SXSW, Governor's Ball, Firefly, Read and Leeds, Great Escape and more, generating over 20+ million spins on Spotify.
Meanwhile, they garnered widespread acclaim from i-D, Nylon, Los Angeles Times, The Guardian, Noisey, Billboard, and many more. In 2017, they released their softmore EP "Kaleidoscopes" paired with videos for "The Hamptons", "Astronaut", "Kaleidoscopes" and "Pretty Head". In 2017, they performed on The Today Show and for MTV, Billboard and Baeble Music while quietly creating this latest body of work.
The indie-electronic duo, Sleeping Lion, was formed by roommates Nate Flaks and Noah Longworth McGuire in Boston during the Spring of 2015. The first Sleeping Lion songs were written and produced remotely the following summer (via Skype) while Nate was living in Dobbs Ferry, NY and Noah was living in Rome, Italy.
Their first single - “You Made Me” - was released in September (2015) and quickly generated hype around Boston. Their subsequent singles - “Rug” and “Generous” - were featured on various music blogs and Spotify playlists. In July (2016), they released their debut EP - Patient Creature - which featured their unique combination of mellow electronic vibes with elements of folk and jazz.
Following Patient Creature, Sleeping Lion produced official remixes for Opia ("YDU (Sleeping Lion Remix)"), Zealyn (“Talk:Listen (Sleeping Lion Remix)”), Axel Mansoor (“Wasted My Love - Sleeping Lion Remix”), LAOISE (“YOU - Sleeping Lion Remix”), VALNTN (“Can't Let Go (Sleeping Lion Remix)”), and Sawyer (“Easy Now (Sleeping Lion Remix)”).
In April, they released their first single of 2017 - “Stop It" - which was featured on Majestic Casual's platforms and Spotify’s “Chill Vibes” playlist. Following the positive reception of “Stop It” they released “Stop It (Stripped)”, an orchestral re-imagining of the original, which drew from their folk roots and demonstrated versatility across genres.
The duo recently drove across the US and relocated to Los Angeles, immediately performing at The Peppermint Club & The Satellite upon arrival. Establishing themselves as writers/producers they started working with a number of artists including Transviolet (“Long Shot”), Aire Atlantica (“Five Night Stand”), Ruuth (“All About”), Vesperteen (“Medicine”), and PHANGS (“Good Now”).
2018 also saw new releases from Sleeping Lion. Their spring single, “Easy For You”, and their recent release, “How We Know” (with Cass Miller), both received positive attention and strong support from the press, radio, and playlist features. (“How We Know” was featured on MrSuicideSheep’s YouTube channel and playlists, BMI’s New Music Monday Spotify playlist, and was the focus of a SKIO remix contest.)
Sleeping Lion has also opened for touring artists such as Brasstracks, Vancouver Sleep Clinic, Vesperteen, Transviolet, and opened for Phangs & THE WLDLFE in November.
The duo will continue to write, produce, release, and perform as they grow in the Los Angeles community and find new listeners.
