David Garza has been making his mark since the late '80s, when he emerged from the fertile Austin, Texas music scene with his inimitable blend of glam-rock, power pop, Latin folk, blues and even musique concrete.
“TELL ME SOMETHING THAT I CAN SING”
Mik is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist originally from Italy.
From the early days as a child when he was 12 years old Mik started writing his own songs and always learning and playing cover songs along the way. He studied guitar, bass and piano while developing his voice as a singer. Mik trained with various well known Italian songwriters and vocal coaches: Giuseppe Anastasi, Giuseppe Barbera, Piero and Massimo Calabrese, Fulvio Tomaino, Paola Folli, Danila Satragno. Mik trained also with Italian jazz singer Laura Scomparcini using the Voicecraft Method.
In 2016 Mik released his first solo effort, a single and music video entitled “The Nation”. In three weeks the video had more than 30.000 views on YouTube.
During summer 2017 he was invited to play as a special guest of Sofar Sounds Los Angeles (Hollywood), and also as an Opening Act for a "Don't Tell Comedy Show" in Santa Monica. He recorded a tribute for the 30th Anniversary of U2's Joshua Tree album playing live from the Joshua Tree Desert, CA.
In 2018 Mik is in charge to realize a couple of Soundtrack songs for Mediaset, Italian National Tv Channels and now is finishing is first Official Album, entirely recorded in Hotel Rooms on the road during his journeys: SONGS FROM A HOTEL ROOM.
EXPERIENCE WITH BANDS
In 2007 The Photonik performed at the Highfield Festival on the MTV/Coca-Cola stage in Hohenfelden, Germany.
In 2010 with his new band, The Panicles, went to the city of Aalborg, Denmark to partecipate in a Laboratory Workshop about songwriting called Youth in Action that was organized and certified by the European Union.
In 2012 Mik and The Panicles signed with EMI Italy and the first CD titled “L’alba è l’ora migliore per tornare” (distributed by Universal/Virgin Records) was recorded at Abbey Road Studio 2 and released in 2013, when the band was the Opening Act for Deep Purple.
In 2015 MTV Italy selected The Panicles as Artist of the Week for their music video “Simplicity”, and The Panicles were also selected in 2015 as one of the Best 6 Italian Bands for XFactor Season 9.
In 2016 RAI (Italian National Radio-Television) selected The Panicles as one of the best 60 Young Artists for Sanremo 2017 (most popular Italian song contest and awards).
