LA's been enjoying a sun-blessed pop renaissance for the past 18 months or so and shows no sign of letting up anytime soon. The latest newcomers to step into the spotlight are Bad Things, and though there's literally no information readily available about the band, their debut offering "Caught Inside" speaks for itself, and loudly. All blissed-out harmonies and sky-licking guitars, the winsome opening gives way to an avalanche of drums and soaring vocals on an absolute knockout double chorus as the song reaches its climax. The end product falls somewhere between Local Natives and Night Terrors of 1927, and coming out the gate with songs like this, Bad Things are destined to be all over alternative radio in the months to come. Expect great things. - Neon Gold Records
No one knows summer like Santa Monica's Zach Yudin, a man of leisure who recognizes "the epic" in something as simple as a twilight bicycle ride or a short drive up the coast. As Cayucas, Yudin has set about creating an impressionistic portrait of summer's long, bittersweet dazzle.
An avid bird-watcher, Yudin majored in both Music Theory/Production and Japanese. He spent a post-grad year living and teaching in Tokyo, then taking the past couple of years to hone the sound of Cayucas. He posted a couple of songs online, picking up a lot of love and attention, but it was only when he entered the studio with producer/multi-instrumentalist Richard Swift last year that Cayucas was truly defined — sun-inspired jams that touch upon The Animals, Harry Belafonte and the surfer-folk mysticism of the Northwest.
Cillie Barnes is a musical project helmed by songwriter Vanessa Long.
In the past she’s put out a couple E.P.’s, had her songs in a couple shows, had some nice quotes written about her and...
That shit’s in the past.
Now Cillie Barnes is Vanessa Long, Marko Kurtović, Nick White, Thomas Berg, Trevor Sohnen and Andrew Tyler.
They just got done doing a full length album, Cobra Lily, produced by Joe Keefe and it’s gonna be sick.
Collectively they enjoy the alexander technique, running the grand canyon, murder mysteries, postmodernism, animation, haunted houses,
cheese, hounds, boardgames, and magick.
If you combine all there names together like a celebrity couple it would like this. : Sohler Whitević Longberg
