#BLM – Resources & Ways to Take Action

Wed June 3, 2020

As a company our goal is to bring people together to celebrate music and culture. We cannot only be here for the celebrations, we also have to show up during challenging times. There are great injustices impacting communities of color now more than ever and we are striving to be part of the solution.

The music industry and our company are incredibly diverse communities, but it’s not enough to practice equality in our own lives, we also have to fight racism. There’s no single initiative that can solve systemic racism. It will take collective, and consistent action. And today Spaceland & Live Nation are doubling down on our commitment to do more.

Moving forward, we will be exploring ways to leverage our platforms to share black voices and stories on the world stage. Acknowledging truth and empowering perspective on an ongoing basis is vital for progress, but also just the first step of many. We cannot be complacent and need to stand up and fight against white supremacy.

To put some immediate action behind our commitment, today Live Nation is making a donation to the Equal Justice Initiative. And tomorrow and every day that follows we will continue to stand with the black community.

It’s time to take action. We’ve compiled several resources below:

NATIONAL RESOURCE LIST: #GeorgeFloyd

***

NAACP Legal Defense Fund

The NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund, Inc is America’s premier legal organization fighting for racial justice. Through litigation, advocacy and public education, LDF seeks structural changes to expand democracy, eliminate disparities, and achieve racial justice in a society that fulfills the promise of equality for all Americans.

The Equal Justice Initiative is committed to ending mass incarceration and excessive punishment in the United States, to challenging racial and economic injustice, and to protecting basic human rights for the most vulnerable people in American society.

The Bail Project

The Bail Project is a non-profit organization designed to combat mass incarceration by disrupting the money bail system – one person at a time. They stand ready to provide bail assistance to protestors in cities where they have offices. Over the next five years, The Bail Project will open dozens of sites in high-need jurisdictions with the goal of paying bail for tens of thousands of low-income Americans, all while collecting stories and data that prove money bail is not necessary to ensure people return to court.

Black Lives Matter

Black Lives Matter is a global organization whose mission is to eradicate white supremacy and build local power to intervene in violence inflicted on Black communities by the state and vigilantes. By combating and countering acts of violence, creating space for Black imagination and innovation, and centering Black joy, we are winning immediate improvements in our lives.

Campaign Zero

Campaign Zero is a national advocacy organization that uses data-based research to inform policy solutions aimed at eliminating police violence. Campaign Zero’s policy solutions are focused on limiting police interventions, improving community interactions, and ensuring accountability. It was founded in 2015 in association with Black Lives Matter.
