Circle V is right around the corner and we’re getting pumped for the promotion of animal rights and awareness! Not only will there be legendary food and legendary acts (Waka Flocka Flame and Moby to name a few), there will also be 31 key-note speakers to bring awareness as to how important it is to support this cause.
To name a few, here are some of the speakers taking to the stage on Nov. 18th:
Kat Von D
While many know her to be the tattoo artist extraordinaire, Kat Von D is also the queen of beauty
products. Her make-up line, Kat Von D Beauty, sold exclusively through Sephora, is composed entirely of vegan-based ingredients. Along with these accomplishments, Kat’s passion for animals and humanity has sparked her own activism, as she regularly volunteers at the California Wildlife Center and is a sponsor and volunteer for Project Chimps Animal Sanctuary.
Nathan Runkle is the founder and president of Mercy For Animals—the world’s largest animal protection farm and vegan advocacy organization. Founded at the age of 15 after an animal abuse case in Nathan’s local farming community in rural Ohio, he has spent the years becoming an author in addition to co-founding The Good Food Institute, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating healthy, humane and sustainable food supply. This organization works to make groundbreaking clean meat and plant-based foods the standard option for consumers.
As the president and co-founder of PETA, Ingrid Newkirk has led the world’s largest animal rights organization for more than 35 years. Under her leadership, PETA was successful in passing legislation to create the first spay-and-neuter clinic in Washington, D.C. Among the many accomplishments Newkirk has given the animal rights community, she also coordinated the first arrest in U.S. history of a laboratory-animal experimenter along with helping Taiwan achieve its first anti-cruelty law.
When Genesis Butler was three years old, she asked where her chicken nuggets came from. When she found out that she was eating animals, she decided she no longer wanted to eat meat and went vegetarian. A year later, after finding out where the milk she was drinking came from, she gave up all dairy products. Since then, Genesis has become a powerful voice for animals and has received various awards for her activism. As the youngest ever TEDx speaker, Genesis recently gave a talk on veganism. Her goal is to make the whole world vegan.
Founder of Animal Hope and Wellness Foundation, Marc Ching realized he could use his passion and skills for the rehabilitation of abused and neglected dogs. He has since become world famous as a man who gives animals a voice. Marc has not only rescued thousands of dogs from the Yulin dog meat trade in China, but has also worked continually to end the trade. Marc’s mission through his foundation is to expose the torturous realities for animals to the world and to force government authorities to create laws to protect precious animals from cruel traditions and conditions.
Author of Vegan Cooking for Carnivores, his first book and New York Times best-seller, he has also authored Roberto’s New Vegan Cooking, cookbooks used to help everyday people make the shift to a vegan-friendly lifestyle. In September 2015 he opened eLOVate Kitchen in Santa Monica. The eco-conscious, local, organic and vegan restaurant exemplifies Roberto’s passion for creating accessible upscale vegan fare. Roberto defies any thought of, “How do you eat if you’re vegan?” and “Doesn’t everything taste gross?” with his amazing cooking.
