TT & SHANNON SHAW LEAD ECHO PARK RISING 2018’s LIBERTY STAGE
Expanded family programming and program partners forecast more to come.
Warpaint guitarist Theresa Wayman’s project TT and song siren Shannon Shaw of Shannon and The Clams lead the eighth annual Echo Park Rising music, art and local business festival on Friday and Saturday’s outdoor Liberty Stage. Expanded family programming and curatorial partners fill dozens of Echo Park businesses of Thursday, August 16th through Sunday August 19th, 2018 for the FREE event.
Additional Echo Park-raised performers also include Fartbarf, James Supercave, Charlie Overbey & the Broken Arrows, Miya Folick, synth punk of Numb.Er, nu soul of Harriet Brown, Yeek, Warm Drag, Poppy Jean Crawford, Current Joys, the space age tropicalia from Healing Gems and a Latinx Friday night at The Echo with Eduardo Arenas from Chicano Batman, LA Qoolside and Tropa Magica.
Local Business and programmer collaborations continue and grow with long-time Taix Champagne Room programming partners SESAC and Buzzbands returning. Grand Ole Echo’s country and americana returning to Cosmic Vinyl and the Echo patio. Also returning is the outdoor Laveta Stage in the parking lot kindly donated by the forthcoming Echo Park bar The Press Box. Green Slime is filling The Short Stop with raw rock n roll, rockabilly garage music. The music blogs What The Sound has indie rock and up-and-coming artists at the The Semi-Tropic and All Scene Eye programming Trencher.
Other programming include Echo Park’s newest Thai restaurant Sticky Rice hosting an all acoustic stage; hot yoga haven Modo Yoga LA hosting performances, Rock Paper Salon curating an art show and an obscure video screening at Blank City Records.
This year’s Echo Park Rising expands its family program with the return of the Bob Baker Marionettes and the World Dodgeball Society’s Saturday games and the addition of 13 year old DJ phenom DJ Kai Song performing and leading a kids’ learn-to-DJ Workshops all happening at El Centro de Pueblo.
More musicians, comedians and other fine artists to be announced.
