Roger Sellers, better known as Bayonne, just dropped his first album since 2016. NPR featured the album, Drastic Measures, as well as the track, Uncertaintly Deranged, on their New Music Friday blog.
Seller’s career began in Austin, Texas where he was often mistaken as a DJ. Since then he has distinguished himself as a minimalist composer with an aptness for hypnotizing a listener. As a child he was inspired by Phil Collins, who highly influenced his drumming style. This is clear to see not only on this album but his first, Primitives. Sellers is also an extremely graceful piano player. He began writing and recording his own music in his high school days. It was at this point he had found his major influences in the minimalist composer genre. These two elements, combined with his looping, overdubbing, and layering are all very visible in his music today.
Once you experience Bayonne’s music for yourself be sure to grab tickets to his show on May 7th at The Echo. He will be accompanied by Palm Daze. Grab your tickets here.
