New Zealand-Australian musician, producer, and songwriter Jordan Rakei’s third full length album “Origin” recently came out on Friday, June 14th.
The record showcases soulful alternative R&B that is musically comforting while thematically challenging. “Origin” is inspired by post apocalyptic and surrealist works including David Lynch’s Twin Peaks and Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale. The track “Say Something” encourages Rakei’s fans to take a stand against a potential AI government and “Minds Eye” paints an Orwelian picture of a not-so-far-off dystopia in which tech implants wreck havoc on human bodies.
Make sure to catch Jordan Rakei live at The Regent Theater Tuesday October 29th to see why he counts esteemed musicians such as Richard Spaven, Bonobo, and Nile Rodgers among his fans and collaborators.
