Peter Sagar, also known as HOMESHAKE, got his start as a guitarist in Mac Demarco‘s former live band after growing up in Edmonton, Canada. One year after his 2011 move to Montreal, he formed HOMESHAKE, and in 2014, left Mac Demarco’s band to focus on his new project. HOMESHAKE’s gathered influence from Prince, The Band, and Sade created his world of dreamy bedroom pop and R&B.
“On his third album, Fresh Air, Sagar incorporates new tropes, including AM-radio yacht rock and quiet storm R&B, into his practice. He’s incorporated the off-kilter guitar playing of his earlier work into his new sound, cleaved from cheap synthesizers and drum machines, and the result could be described as thrift store synthpop” – Pitchfork
